Since exam week’s coming up, and I’m asked the most as to what one should do during the last week or 2-3 days just before going in for the final attempt, here’s a guide as to what i personally do and stick to, which i think might help you all! 🤍
- Attempt 1 Mock Exam (AT LEAST)
Ideally I’d say 3 mocks but we all know how lazy we get when it comes to attempting a 3-hr exam. But it’s ideal if you attempt 1-2. Gets you more familiar with the exam setting and time-pressure handling ka good scene. This would also help assess where you lack, be it syllabus wise or with time management.. so you can place your focus there a bit more.
- Revise from Summaries previously made.
Now I’M a HUGE FAN of handwritten notes 😂 since I feel like it also helps retain as I’m writing them down, + no one has the time to go over lengthy syllabus course books in full near the end, so summaries or word webs help!
We have pocket notes (an online source available) for ACCA students which i believe are such a valuable source, plus they’re free so do make use of them!
Or I read Technical articles. I rely on them – write small points alongside them as I’m studying and that way I don’t have to skim through the whole book.
- Attempt Tricky Questions
I Mark important/tricky questions as I’m doing them through the course of the syllabus. This is so that I can go over them once before the exam just so I’m feeling more prepared for a challenging scenario if it comes up. Always helps me feel more confident.
- Lastly, if you’re sitting for a numerical exam or one that has definitions you need to learn, go over them a night before but DO NOT make the mistake of learning something new from scratch because it’ll only build on your anxiety which in turn affects your exam performance. (been there, done that 😅)
If you’re an ACCA student,
- listen to Webinars to Success.
- skim through Technical Articles on important topics.
- time an exam and attempt it on the practice platform to help familiarise with the exam setting.
Wishing you all luck and I hope this helps! 🤍
